Lost power to fuse panel!

Post by Rockybar »

I lost power to 3 post of my fuse panel.

The instrument lights, and the two plugs on the left.

The wiring in the truck has been a bit bastardized, but its kinda hard to not find that in 40yr old rigs.

All other fuses have power. All fuses are good

I recently moved the dome lights and volt meter to the top left post, and radio/turn signals to bottom left.

Any ideas would be great.

The common element here is the headlight switch. I would start there.
What year/model is your truck?

sorry,

67 F100

I was running it last night when I had problems, so you may be on to something there.

I removed the fuse box, and check power behind on it on the incoming wire, no power there, so what ever feeds it took a dump

The feed comes from the headlight switch (see attached drawings). I have highlighted the wires (red) in question. You might try turning the knob full throw several times, sometimes they just get crud on the wiper/coil. Otherwise, time for a new switch...

TBone6, thanks for your help and awesome diagrams.

Tried what you said but no luck. Looks like a new switch is required.

Thanks again

Sounds good. That big post is power straight from the battery, no problem using it as long as you don't leave a blinker on overnight by accident. The voltmeter will pull a little current just sitting there, so don't let it sit too long without recharging the battery. Or you could just leave your voltmeter unhooked for now...

*edit for spelling

Be gentle with removing that harness plug. Mine was brittle as"all get out".

Replaced the switch, still don't have any power to that fuse panel as mentioned above.

Were these lights working before you moved them?
