1968 Ford F100 not starting

I have a 68 ford f100 with the 360 it sat for 1 year and when I purchased it it started with just a little starting fluid to the carb, it ran rough because of bad fuel. I have drained the fuel, changed plugs, wires, rotor cap, condenser, points(gapped correctly) fuel filter, had the carb rebuilt, and added an inline paper filter, starter solenoid and negative battery wire were also replaced. It currently runs well however I have driven it recently for a short distance less than 5 miles and when I shut the truck off then try and restart the battery acts as though it is dead, if the truck sites for 30 mins or so it will again start with out issue. I have checked all electrical connections and all appear to be sound. Can anyone help me out here.

Sounds like you could have a heat soak problem with your starter.
I replaced my starter after having the same problem, and that took care of it. (I went with a high torque mini starter, helped eliminate heat soak, and gave me more header clearance.
