Door actuated interior light
I'd like to have my interior light come on when I open the door of my bone stock 68. Is there a kit to do this? Is the wiring there just not the switches? I'm sure someone has dealt with this so I need some advice.

It's been a while but my 69 did not have them. I took the switches and wire harnesses of a donor truck and it was plug and play.

I'll look in to a donor or buying the appropriate harnesses. Getting tired of getting in my truck in dark.

Did you know you can rotate your headlight switch and your dome light comes on , (or should)

My 72 bare bones F100 custom has a dome light that comes on when the door is opened. Looks stock to me.

Believe it or not, this was an option until at least 1971. My 69 didn't have it either so I found everything from a donor truck. The wiring harness is not already in place but as someone else commented, the dome light harness simply plugs into the main underdash harness.

Re: Door actuated interior light
A lot of people didn't like them because the kids would leave the door open and kill the battery, usually out in the middle of nowhere. (I unplugged mine for that reason sort of because I am in and out all the time) For my cabin I added a mechanical rotary timer so I could turn it on/off from either door (using non-mercury upstairs/downstairs switches) That way my backup power won't kill the battery if it's not very sunny out to recharge it. I had the same thing in my old pickup so I could turn lights on and they would shut off automatically if I forgot.
