1970 f100- what are these harnesses for?

Post by POLOreme »

So I'm going through some parts that I have for my f100 that I'm working on and was going through some wiring harnesses that I got from a 1970 F250 from the local junk yard. The first harness looks like it has a firewall grommet and one end connects inside the cab. The other end connects to something inside the engine bay and also has some ground ring connection. The colors on the wires are blue, red, and black. What is this from?

The second harness was connected to something under the dash and the opposite end was screwed into the door jamb. The color of the wires are grey and black. They almost look like speaker wire but why would it hook up to the door jamb. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

(Sorry trying upload pictures but they don't seem to go through)

Have you considered reviewing the wiring diagrams that are provided by Fordification?

.. otherwise we're gonna need pics of what you're working with.

Ok sorry, I was trying to figure out how to add pictures to this post. Think I finally got it.
Yes I have gone through the wiring but either couldn't find anything or must have missed it.

First one looks like the controller thingy that goes in the driver's door jam for the emissions stuff. 2nd one is possibly for the remote lights and relays mounted on the passenger side A pillar behind the dash. From Ford the lamp switch turns on relays inside the cab for the roof and bed parking lamps. Been a while but I think there are two thermal overloads and the relay up there. I had to drill the firewall hole in my F250 cab and drilled it oversized, PITA. Big trucks had a whole extra fuse panel mounted up there.

Anybody have any diagrams showing these? I didn't see anything in the diagrams provided on this site.

And how come an emissions wire would be wired to the door jamb? How does that function?

Cab lamp wiring...

The switch is the ambient temp sensor for the emissions control module. 9D857 Lower left (15G). It's just a temperature switch so the emissions act correctly.
Cab lamp wiring is in the upper right (74D). This keeps the headlamp switch from overloading when someone adds a bunch of extra parking lamps.
