Right now I need to find somewhere to put the tank and make space, and behind the seats is the logical place - except for the gaping hole spewing residual gas fumes right behind me that would make it real "interesting" to drive. It's empty now, but it had about half a gallon in it when I pulled it from the truck, and the fumes are strong enough that I don't want to breathe them for long, and I can't put it in the garage either (water heater pilot light....boom). Leaving it outside is asking for trouble as we've had stuff go over the wall recently, and I'd hate to see someone decide it's worth more to them as scrap metal. So I'm wondering (as I'm on an increasingly tighter budget) before I just make a plate to seal the hole, do dentside senders fit our tanks so I can safely put it in the cab? I grabbed the filler neck when I pulled the tank and the new connector hose just arrived yesterday, and a new grommet to seal the hole in the sheet metal should be here soon. The little pieces are starting to nickel and dime before me before I really start spending money on the materials for a flat bed, so I'm looking to ease the hit on my wallet as much as possible. If I have to, I'll bite the bullet and buy a new sender, but I could put that money toward something else right now, and it's running on an auxiliary tank anyway.
