front running lights while headlights are on ??

are the front running lights supposed to turn off while your headlights are on?
if so thats odd, i want the running lights to stay on while my headlights are on, can i jump a wire off the headlights?

I'm sure I'm not the first or last person that has asked.

i have already replaced ignition switch, hi lo switch, headlight switch, alt, engine wiring harness, pointless ignition and coil, starter, solenoid .
Ive been fixing all the electrical problems through the years, seems like every single electrical item has failed me one time or another. after the running light issue I'm on to the backup lights. and the one dash light that just went out :D

The running lights didn't stay on with the headlights until 1970. I don't think you can accomplish your goal by installing jumpers from the headlights to the running lights. The wiring harness and headlight switch is different from 1970 onward.

It'll require dual filament bulbs.... and dual contact light sockets to match.

They are already since all of the running (parking lights) must run parking and turn signal.

Before 70 these lights were called Parking Lights. 70 and after they are called Running Lights.

It should work for you. I used the same diagram and connected the same jumper on my '69 and it worked perfectly for me.
