Got a 71 with dash light problems. Apparently the circuit on the back has a short somewhere. It gets fire out of the plug but not to the bulbs. The gauges and signal lights all work fine. Just no dash lights. All bulbs are new and I tried swapping known good bulbs into the dash light hole and still no light.
What year models have the same type circuit as the 71 since I'll probably try getting one from a u-pull-it?
Thanks
Dash Lights

Re: Dash Lights
I recognize that this answer isn't going to be super helpful for the budget minded.
My resolution was 1) new circuit board, 2) new sockets, 3) replacement LED lightbulbs. My lights and indicators are now 100% reliable, like new.
While I was at it, I also replaced the valence, and the lens, and re-painted the mask. My dash looks brand spanking new.
Cheers,
Duane

Re: Dash Lights
When I got it my 68 had the same problem. Every time I got in to drive it I would turn the light switch to full stops back and forth several times. After several times the dash lights started working and have every since. Guess it was just a gummed up rheostat.
I did that at the advice of another member. Can not remember who as it was a few years back.
Hope this helps. Keep on Trucking.....John

Re: Dash Lights
Thanks guys.
Duaneo, you're right about the budget minded. With 3 other vehicles to keep going the budget gets kinda small when 2 or 3 need attention at the same time. I do like the LED bulb idea though.
Mancar, I'll give twisting the knob a try and see if that helps first.
