Really need help

Post by mnkeeking »

OK so I have a '68 F100 with a 460 and C6. Here's the problem: key switch does not engage starter. I replaced the switch, the solenoid, the battery, and the starter. Only thing left to replace is the wiring harness. Today I replaced the starter switch and after playing a little with the NSS she fired right up off the key (first time starting after I fixed an oil pan leak). Shut her down and started her with the key three times. Figured a bad switch had been the problem I started to button her back up. Tried the key again and NOTHING! I checked the harness and can't find anywhere it could be grounding. Only thing I can think of is a bad voltage regulator that fries my ignition switch after only a few starts. I'm at a loss and am very angry and need advice or help. I also get a good reading on my ammeter with the key in ACC, but no reading in the ON position and now have no headlights. Dash is out so I don't know if I have turn signals, but I bet not. Fairly certain the switch isn't bad as I bought three of them to be sure. I can also start her by turning on the ignition (I have an HEI dizzy) and jumping from the positive battery terminal to the starter. I have a charger on the battery so it's charged. Please help!

Take care,
Joe

U think you may have already found your problem. I'd check the voltage in and out of the NSS.
