ok here it is.....69' 360/c6. when starting cold the engine turns over but will not spark. as you let it come back to the "on" position on the ignition it will barely fire up as the motor stops turning. so you have to fiddle between start ans run to get it started. once its been running for a few minutes it fires right up in the start position. i aleady tried a new ignition with no sucsess. any ideas?
On another not truck transmission works and shifts great. doesnt leak a drop. after 2-3 weeks up sitting it will all of a sudden dump a quart or two in a matter of a day..... i dont think its the pan gasket cause wouldnt that leak all the time? im guessing that extra fluid is coming from the tourqe converter draining out? thanks

Didn't quite understand your problem. You replaced the ignition switch correct.
Check wiring from ignition switch to coil. Have you checked (or replaced) coil?
Check battery ground and make sure its clean and secure. Also check engine to cab ground.

Re: 1969 Camper Special starting probem
Dont know if its points or duraspark but i havent seen a module.... i'll check tonight. yes i replaced the ignition switch. the weird part to me is that the truck will start in the on position on the ignition switch. it will not start with the starter engaged. the only way it will start is in the second when im turning the key back to the on position. the starter will dis engage and as the motor is still kinda spinning it will fire up. All of this happens on cold starts, like the first start of the day. once the truck is running for 2-3 minutes you can turn it off and it will instantly fire back up with the key in the start position with the starter enguaged. thats why this whole problem is wierd to me. if it is a duraspark im totally leaning towards the moduel. im just wordering if this has happend to any of you. im also ruling out neutral safety cause the starter does turn over just fine. Any help on the transmission issue would also be great. if i could get these two issues fixed this thing would be running top.
Thank You

Follow the brown wire from the starter solenoid to where it splices in to the engine wiring harness. It should be a three pin plug with a white/red stripe wire and a red/white stripe wire for the oil and temp sending units, along with the coil wire to the distributor. The brown wire will be spliced in with the coil wire, and supplies twelve volts to the coil to make starting easier. It sounds like yours isn't doing it's job.

I say you either have a bad ignition switch or solenoid, both of which supply voltage to the coil when the starter is engaged.
