Hey All,
New here, I have a 1969 F-250 4x4, 4 Speed, with a 429 BB.
I was driving in the mountains yesterday, all was going well, truck ran great; but I bumped my speed up to 45 mph, and now my needle stays at 45. At first I assumed a snapped cable, however, the odometer is still counting miles at a normal rate. So, I suppose the cable may not be suspect. Any ideas?
Thanks for reading,
Jesse.

Update. I reached back behind the cluster, and the nut was barely on that holds the cable into the cluster. Any tricks to get it on right? It just locks up after a thread, was curious if different years might have different sized stud for the cluster, and that my cluster is a different year than the speedo cable housing....

As I recall, the cable has a square end on it. If you can't get the nut to screw on, it's probably because the square cable end isn't lined up properly with the square hole. Monkey around with it a bit, and the cable end should slide in, letting the nut go back on.

Thanks Joseph,
I'll pull the cluster back out today or tommorrow, and see what orientation the speedo head is in, and try and get the cable head lined up with it. I was thinking along these lines in bed last night...
Thank you kindly,
Jesse.
