starter
I know I have asked this before, but here it is again. Local parts stores tell me I would be $$$ ahead by ordering a gear reduction starter for my 68 CS 390 A/T myself. Any input on which one would be appreciated. Been looking in at Summit. 390 is stock, I will be adding a intake and 4 barrel. Tired of heat sock hard starts every now and then.
May your sails stay full, and your knots not slip. Unless a slip knot.
Once I thought I was wrong, but I was wrong.

Re: starter
Good morning John,
While I'm sure that most of the mini-starter products out there are great and would work fine, I've been very happy with my RobbMc starter. Maybe skimming through this old thread would be a good reminder of some ye olde jibber-jabber on this topic: High torque starters: Powermaster, RobbMc, and NPD.
I received a personal e-mail from the inventor of the RobbMc starter years ago, and I have permission to forward it on to any interested individuals, as long as it's not posted publicly anywhere. That's because he's making a candid comparison between his starter design and other popular designs on the market, and he doesn't want to publicly state anything negative about another company's product. So, just PM me if you're interested and I could forward this to you.
If you'd like any more detail on the RobbMc, like its part numbers and photos, I could dig those out for you.
