did the 67;s even have one? the truck was originally a 390 with a stick. That stuff is long gone and I'm currently running a 68 column (auto) with a B+M floor shift unit which does come with a neutral safety switch. I've gone thru the diagrams and schematics but the wiring is pretty jumbled (but complete for the most part) under the dash. If I cant find the corect wire in the factory harness I'll probably just tap into the hot to the dizzy.
Thanks all

Re: Neutral safety questions
Dave,
I honestly can't answer the question for the 67' originally having it or not. But B & M makes it so...easy for us to do like you said above. I've yet to wire mine in, (one of those "when I get to it-I get to it") but I know the consequences of starting it in gear too.

Re: Neutral safety questions
thanks Jeff. It should be simple enuff.
Oh speaking of starting in gear. My friend and I went to see a buddies 67 Camaro that he just finished, well it was 90 percent there. He is on par with the Fooses and Coddingtons as far as build quality, and it all comes out of a little garage in Midlothian Ill. I'm in awe of his talents. Any way, we get there and the car is on a four poster which is on the ground and he had just finished some linkage work, and of course we wanted to hear the big block. So he half steps in the drivers door, and the motor was a gnarly beast to begin with, and he hits the key and a big problem, the trans is in reverse. The car launches itself off the ramp, thru the overhead door and into his sons Impala on the other side. I saw his disappear under the car and assumed the worst (we were on the passenger side front), but then his arm appeared and turned the key off. Damages: drivers door ripped off, left side fender, quarter rear deck, valance all toast. He walked away with what we assumed was a broken arm and ribs. It happened in a flash and we were all numb. So I learned a lesson that day, I dont blow off the safety stuff anymore. Sorry for the rambling post.

Re: Neutral safety questions
If it was a stick originally then NO it doesn't have a netural safety switch because they didn't come in to play on standards until late 80 early 90 Just for the reason you described in the later posting It's not hard to do just break the wire going to the starter soliniod It's the Red/Blue wire run that through your netural safety switches on the B&M shifter and your good they're normally open set of contacts held close when you have it park or netural I hope this helps if you changed column to a auto then if it's a ( pre 78 ) should have the slot in the top of the column for the safety switch but if it not there junkyard is the best place because they're expensiveBlueOvalDave wrote:did the 67;s even have one? the truck was originally a 390 with a stick. Re: Neutral safety questions
Ouch! Just reading about your friend's Camaro makes me cry. The only thing worse would have been a '68 El Camino, or any year Malibu!
On your original question, my '67 F250 has a neutral safety switch, and I believe it came stock this way.

Dave,
Sorry to hear about your buddy's incident-but real glad he's ok, could've been much worse.

Re: Neutral safety questions
It turned out that he was working on the trans linkage and neutral safety switch wiring just prior to our arrival. yeah he could have been seriously hurt or killed. Did make me think about all the corners I used to cut regarding safety and got away with it.
