3G help

Post by bmcgc »

Im asking my Bump brothers for some 3G install help on my 66. You guys seem to do a lot more of these than the Slick guys do.

I have 5 wires comming off my regulator, the regulator is mounted on the driver core support.

2 white that will not be used.

1 yellow pigtail that was unused.

1 red/green that will connect to the red/green off the 3G harness.

1 yellow that connects to the main power wire coming off the old alternator. Off that main power wire is a second yellow wire that goes all the way back to the driver core support and disappears into the main wiring harness.

Im guessing that I need to keep that yellow wire to power.

I have looked at a lot of 3G writeups, but have never seen that yellow wire mentioned.

Here are a few pics. I did not like the alt case touching the block (352), so I went to Advance and bought a Mr Gasket alt bracket p/n 9851. Its chrome, but thats all the had. That rotates the alt out past the block so that everything clears. I had to do some emergency surgery to make it fit. I used a 47 1/2 belt.

I hope to finish up tonight if I can figure out the yellow wire situation.

I think that the wire in question is supposed to power the horn relay.
