Hazzard/turn signal ??s what am I doing wrong?

Post by Zukinut »

1968 f350 . Hazzard switch in glove box.

Got the turn signals working, found out the colin bearing were trashed. Swapped columns and put the new switch in the new column.

Signals work as they should. But Hazzards will only work when the key is on and the signal switch is either in left or right position. Also the flasher for the Hazzards doesn't click. if you put a test light on the terminals of the Hazzard flasher the test light will flash on both terminals if Hazzard flasher Is installed and only one side if uninstalled. I have tried several different flashers.

It appears that there is a backfeed somewhere but I have no clue where.

Anybody on here have any ideas? This is really stumping me.

Thats a good clue because hazards should always work with the key off, electrical problems are a pain but the quickest way is to trace every wire.
Get a copy of the wiring diagram and start back from the flasher. Good luck.

Problem solved.

Took the fuse out and cleaned the contacts in the fuse panel. Works like a charm. I hope this info can help somebody in the future.
