Hi everybody. This is my first time reaching out for some help. When I start my truck, the volt gauge reads about 14 volts. After about 20 seconds or if I rev up the motor, the voltage gauge goes up to just below 18 volts. After this, it stays just below 18 volts and fluctuates some as I rev the motor. I was having this problem before, because the battery in it at the time had a dead cell. After getting a new battery, it stopped. Now, it's happening again. I have a 72' F250 with a 360. The gauge is an after market, under the dash unit.
Does anybody have any suggestions as to what the problem might be and where to start? Thanks for any help in advance!

Thanks 71PA_Highboy!
Replaced it and the gauge is down to where it's supposed to be.
