Ballast Resistor
I'm rewiring a '68 Camper Special, F250 w/390. Truck was recently completely pulled apart and repainted. Installing a new harness from Painless Performance. In the kit they included a ballast resistor with instructions to install as part of the ignition. Looking through the original harness and pictures of the engine bay prior to teardown, I can't determine if/where the original ballast resistor was located. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Ballast Resistor
The reason you did not see the resistor originally, is the factory one from Ford, was a resistance wire in the wiring harness, not a ballast, like you are about to install. So you can pick your own mounting place. No right/wrong.

Re: Ballast Resistor
it goes between the ignition switch and the coil. its #16a on this diagram: http://fordification.com/tech/wiring/68-09.jpg and looks like a fat pink wire originally.

Re: Ballast Resistor
Thanks everyone. I did some reading regarding the in-line resistance wire but wanted to confirm. Appreciate the info.
