'67 Ignition switch

Post by kf7mjf »

So my '67 F100 has some sort of generic ignition switch hanging below the dash by the wires, and wont' fit in the stock dashboard hole. Do I need a '67 specific switch or will any switch from 67-72 fit?

LMC Trucks lists the '67 separately from the other years. Check 'em out at this link:

Hope this helps,

Thanks Joseph. Another question, there is what looks like a starter button on the floor. Is it possible this truck shipped without an ignition assembly, and the hole in the dash was plugged?

If it's the button on the left, all the way forward, that's your headlight bright switch. If that's not it, then maybe someone else knows something about it. Is this a stock '67 for the consumer market, or was it a special-order item?

Yup, that's the button. Didn't know that was the brightness switch, thanks. And yes, it is a stock '67 Camper Special. Been trying to find a downloadable scan of a 67 owner's manual before I go buy a reprint somewhere (which I will do, but I'd like to find one now for handy reference)

If you find a download or a CD, let me know. All I have is an old Chilton's manual, which is pretty generic, and I'd love something better than that. I also found a '67 - '72 scan of parts and part numbers, but it hasn't been as useful as I was hoping. So far, I've found this forum the best resource out there!

I've got a buddy who used to be a professional mechanic, and is a Ford junky. He's looking through his stuff to see if he has any books or parts left from his '67. Might have the Haynes books, and who knows what else. If I can find a scan or a CD I'll let you know, otherwise ordering a reprint online next payday along with a few other things.

Hard to beat a complete set of the original factory service manuals. If you can find and/or afford to buy them. They come up for sale on Ebay sometimes.

Also, if you live in a larger city, try the library. My first truck was a 1950 GMC, the downtown branch here in Seattle had an original manual. It was the only one they had, and pretty rare so I couldn't check it out, but I was allowed to photocopy any pages needed.
