Headlight Question

Post by davbell22602 »

Will I have to do any mods to fit a H6024 Sylvania headlight? I noticed there's 3 terminals on each bulb. This is for a 67 F100.

If it's a regular 7" halogen sealbeam it will fit right in. You may want to install relays for brighter lights and to take the load off the old headlight switch.

2nd that-what Mike said. Most here have found out the hard way, (after having to get the truck home with lights flashing on and off). Our trucks wiring just doesn't support the extra load put on it by the halogen bulbs most of the time.

Who sells the relay to support the halogan bulbs? Just a universal relay works from autozone?

if you look at the sticky for diagrams at the top of this forum section the first diagram shows how to wire the headlights w\ relays. You just need 2 generic (12v) relays.

The autozone by me does not carry generic relay's anymore (you can get them in a package that includes wiring\switch for fog lights for 3x the price) but radio shack has em in a variety of amperage sizes. I would think the standard 30amp's would be more than sufficient.

that one in particular should be a direct replacement. It is incandescent but like stated above the relays will help alot. Basically that headlight is plug n play.

Dave,
You can also get just about any KC or off road type lighting relay to do the wiring upgrade.
Wallyworld might even have these.

Buy these:

Less than most places... it has the wiring socket, so it is a crimp in solution.
