I know some here have put power door locks in their bumps, so wondering if anyone has any advice on what system to get. I never had an interest in doing this in my standard cab when I had it because I could just reach over and lock the passenger door. But with the crew cab, locking the doors becomes a major project at times.
I found this set and was wondering if anyone has any experience with this company, or if they could recommend another set. The remote system is something I really want with this mod.

Any input is appreciated.

Re: Power door locks
Rich,
Not much help that only I hope to do it someday also. But just a FYI that when I put my alarm into my truck it does have the capability to add remote locks already. Maybe something to think about, (adding both the alarm and remote door locks at the same time)?
Real happy with my alarm.

Re: Power door locks
I'll most certainly add an alarm to mine when I get to that point. Maybe a remote battery disconnect too. My truck has been stolen. One of those .... "Nobody would steal this POS" thoughts. Weeeeellllllll....yes they will. Fortunately, it was recovered and returned. With the stock vent windows in our trucks, locking the doors is pretty much useless. Even if you have locking vent handles a hacksaw blade makes quick work of disabling that security.

Re: Power door locks
I will be putting an anti-theft system in my car, but not a standard alarm type. I will probably go with a Ravelco which is what I have in my 67 Firebird, and a LoJack system for classic cars. The Lojack has an alarm notification like a standard alarm, but then can be found even if they get it. Between the 2 systems, the only way it can be stolen is if it is towed, and even then, there is a good chance it will be recovered quickly.

Re: Power door locks
I added power locking servos to my doors when I had my Viper alarm installed. Best buy charged me $30/door for parts and labor- not bad in my book. The tech even wired up an additional alarm switch to the hood free of charge, so that opening that will trigger the alarm/kill function.

Re: Power door locks
This was one of our trucks you're talking about isn't it? Wouldn't it actually be a solenoid rather than a servo? In HVAC terms I know it would be a solenoid. Any idea on the model number of the servo or solenoid they used? Real easy for me to do with my current alarm.sigalert on Fri Jan 13, 2012 6:44 pm

Re: Power door locks
When I put my shaved handle kit in I ended up with something like 6 extra channels. With shaved handles locking the door is kind of pointless but looking for a multi channel system might be of benefit for you. I have room to add remote start along with anything else I might think of all running from a single remote with 4 buttons on it.

Re: Power door locks
Yep, my '72 Custom, and you're probably right- I may be mistaken with my terminology. I am taking my door panels off over the weekend to tighten up a loose side-view mirror and I can check for a model # then- maybe even post a picture if I can ever figure that out...basketcase0302 wrote:This was one of our trucks you're talking about isn't it?
