I am running a Dura-spark dist. with the HEI style 4 pin Module. I did this mostly because I burnt the resistor wire and the HEI will run on 12v.
I put on a new module the other day. Today I drove about 20 miles shut off the engine and messed around a while and there was no spark when I tried starting it. Messed around checking wires and grounds and put on another module. Finally it started, ran great all the way home and now won't start again with no spark.
I am leaning towards it being the module inside of the distributor. I've only had one of those go bad on me many moons ago and cannot remember how it acted before it died. I am thinking it was hard to start and ran rough a couple of days before it quit.
Anybody ever had one go bad that can give me the symptons.
Any way to really check the module in the dist.?

Re: ignition troubles
Clint,
Probably not much help...no expierence with the HEI gm type to speak of. All my Ford duraspark's have had-all of the above symptoms, but mainly just no spark. I've also had duraspark intermittent before. Have to love our electronic ignition modules.
But isn't the HEI where you can check the supply voltage feeding it easily?
Maybe someone else can chime in here that can help a little better.
