Turn signals

Post by mkitchen »

Some time ago, I asked about getting a good turn signal switch and someone on this forum said that they sold good quality switches and now I can't find the post that told me who it was that was selling them. I believe it was Fordman, if that sounds right. Can anyone help an old fellow with a bad memory? I finally have most of the funds to start on the cab of my truck (Rueben) and part of that is going to be a new steering wheel, after market, and the turn signal switch, along with a whole lot of other neat stuff that I want to do.

I can't get Rueben in the garage so I saved up and built a carport that is tall enough to get him in. Can't wait to get to work on him. I sent a picture of the carpart to my daughter and she sent back saying "Hey great, Rueben's new bedroom."

Mikey,
Here's the "parts for sale" here on fordification where surely one member has a good used switch assembly:
http://www.fordification.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=11
Here's the "parts wanted" that you can post to and members will respond to what you need usually:
http://www.fordification.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=13
And here's a "new" switch that at least one of our members here installed last week:

For what's it's worth...I'd go with the new switch as they can be real run replacing sometimes due to how fragile they can be. :2cents:
And I'm jealous about the carport man! Was it one of those $695 ones?

I advise caution on buying NOS (new old stock) TSS's if you go that route. I bought a NOS TSS & it lasted about 3 blocks before one of the ears broke. 40 year old plastic is no longer "new". It's just "old stock"

It's just as brittle as the stuff you're replacing. :2cents:

I had to replace the TSS in my 70 right after I got it.

I bought mine from http://www.shee-mar.com

I was very pleased with the quality  , and now, six years later, it still works like new. :D

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

That's not an oil leak :nono: That's SWEAT from all that HORSEPOWER!!

I never heard of Shee Mar and that is just what I was looking for. I have heard a bit of bad about a lot of the re-pops and wanted to find a good quality part. I will call and order a switch from Shee-mar. Thank you all
As for the carport, I needed to have the roof done on my existing garage so I had the fellow that was going to re-roof, continue the roof line out the front an additional 16 feet. So now I have an open, covered area that is 16 feet deep and twenty feet wide. A lot better than working in the hot Arizona sun.
PS What is TSS?

Only stupid question is the one not asked, right.
We all learned by asking questions, and continue to do so-or at least I do.
