Finally found original 71 bed rails - pictures
After scanning ebay and craigslist for 2 years I finally found an original set of bed rails for my 71 Explorer. All the screws and gaskets were there, as well as the sliding tie-downs, three per side. The picture is at http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/26 ... 11038.jpg/. Hopefully they can be viewed. I am still working on it. This winter I will do exhaust and engine seals. It has a 390, with c6 auto trans and a 3:50 trac loc rearend.

Your picture link works find, very nice truck. Don't believe I'd ever seen a 71' truck that color, (I owned a 71' Chero the same color for some 8 years).

Thanks. It's code S lime gold metallic 1971 color. The explorer specials had it. The color was used on some Mustangs back then as well. It is very similar to the 05 Mustang color legend lime. The difference is that legend lime has more pearl in the paint mix. The official name for the legend lime is actually lime gold metallic for the 05 to 06.
