altenator upgrade

i want to upgrade my 69s alt. Ive heard about the ford 3g. what car or trucks do i need to look for these alt.? What amp output are they? Any mods needed? How much are they?

i found a alternator from a 92 taurus. got the harness too. My question from above post, is since i dont have a warning lamp but an ammeter gauge do i just forget about wiring in the resistor.?

As long as you are using the stock "exciter wire" on the truck wiring (Green/red striped wire) then you don't have to wire in the resistor, as that wire has a resistive wire in the circuit, but if you are rewiring the whole truck with new wires then you would need to wire in a resistor.
