gm style 1 wire alternator anyone?

Post by hedz »

has anyone tried to switch to a gm style alternator, 1 wire alternator, on their FE classic truck? and i'm not talking to the guys who have hot rod motors built to smash competition with aluminum heads etc. :fr:

they dont line up with the rest of the pulleys on some pulley setup. 3 g is a better way to go.

I have a 3-wire Delco alternator on the FE in my '63 but I put it in 20 years ago and can't remember how I wired it. The "GEN" light even works... :hmm:

Why would you want to 'frankenstein' a GM alternator when you can almost 'direct bolt in' a Ford 3G that is a (okay, a 2 wire but still) internally regulated. It's a 'no brainer' to me. Just sayin

There is a lot of info about that on this forum. http://fordification.com/forum/viewtopi ... =8&t=13062
I honestly love the upgrade. Very simple and straight forward to do.
