gm style 1 wire alternator anyone?

has anyone tried to switch to a gm style alternator, 1 wire alternator, on their FE classic truck? and i'm not talking to the guys who have hot rod motors built to smash competition with aluminum heads etc.

they dont line up with the rest of the pulleys on some pulley setup. 3 g is a better way to go.

I have a 3-wire Delco alternator on the FE in my '63 but I put it in 20 years ago and can't remember how I wired it. The "GEN" light even works...

i'm looking at my engine and i'm almost positive a GM style can be done. I may need to frankenstein a alternator housing...

Why would you want to 'frankenstein' a GM alternator when you can almost 'direct bolt in' a Ford 3G that is a (okay, a 2 wire but still) internally regulated. It's a 'no brainer' to me. Just sayin

i was told one wire from the alt to the batt side of the solenoid. i haven't done it yet, but i'm gonna.

with a 3 g alt. what amp for our bumps? What do they come off of?
