click on the compatiblitity tab. it is for a cheese load of ford cars and trucks. and yes our trucks were listed as being the right wire for our trucks. so yes it is right.

the resistor wire from O'Reilly's is 61 inches long but the one in the truck is only about 12 -24 inches long does it matter how long the wire is?

The length of the wire should not matter. Most of these genric parts need to be trimmed or fine tuned to fit good anyway. 61 inches gives you alot to work with you can either roll up the access and tuck away somewhere or cut to fit. imo

that doesnt matter as far as length. it can be cut down if needed.

Do NOT cut a resistor wire down in length!!! The resistance of this wire is specific to its made length ,if you make it shorter then when you get it you will change the resistance valve of it. Making it shorter will lessen the resistance and up the voltage to the coil, wearing out your points even faster!

Do NOT shorten a resistor wire...

As for the replacement being longer yes, you will have to rout it a bit or something to take up the extra length, unless you can find a shorter one that is the same resistance. Or you can run normal wire to a Ballast Resistor and then normal wire to the coil.

i wondered that myself. and if it has that plug end on it in th epicture it would have to be cut off so it could be hooked up to the ignition switch longer wont hurt anything. it does seem that my earlier post said to cut it in half. i am sorry that is not what i meant to say. my apolgies for that misleading post.

Thunderfoot is absolutely right. After a quick search to get a solid answer I found that my last statement about cutting to fit a resisted wire was dead wrong. Do not cut the resisted wire. just roll it up and tuck away the access. My apologies for the wrong information..Thunderfoot thank you for pointing this out!
