wiring up ignition

Post by cboogie23 »

Having some trouble wiring up the ignition ( where the key goes :)~ ) it seems that there are to many wires. Its a 67 f100, Im at work so I don't have it sitting in front of me, but there was a orange wire, 2 greens, 2 reds with if I remember right a blue line and the other with a brown line, yellow, and a black... I looked at a diagram on the site... but like I said, there is more wires than it shows on the diagram. HELP!

I did that, and I found the 21 wire-yellow , 32 wire-red w/blue , 16 wire-red w/ green , 297 wire-black w/ green , 98 wire-black. and it looks like 297 and 98 go together, and 6 and 32 go together, and yellow(21) by its lonsome. but my question is what part of the ignition switch are this connectiong to, and does anyone know why or were the other wires go? Sorry I'm just questionable on electrical stuff besides stereo wiring. never wired a ignition before, and I dont know if they engine runs, so I don;t wanna thing something else is wrong just becuase I didnt wire it correctly.

orange goes to the wiper switch power. the two greens go the the plug on the side of the switch the rest go into the connector of the switch and the black with yellow and orange hook up to the ceneter. you can see them in this picture of my 67. i have a extra plug if yo uneed it. with the wires pigtailed off of the plug.

I didnt have time lastnight to go out and check it out, butttt, I don;t remeber the back of the ignition switch looking like that. Although, there were 2 ignition switchs sitting on the seat when I picked the truck up. I figured the one that my original key fit was the right now. Going to take a look at the other switch tonight hopefully.

there are three different switches and plugs for our trucks. 67 is a one year only and loks like the one i took a picture of. the 68/69 plug has what are called bullet connectors. inside the switch they connectors look about the size of a 22 shell. the 70-72 switches have male spade connectors in them.
