Ignition cylinder replacement 1972 ford pickup
How do I remove and then reinstall a new ignition cylinder lock on my 1972 ford pickup?

I would use a scrediver and gently tap the little grooves on the locking ring counter clockwise. It should imply unscrew and you can remove ignition switch and disconnect the wiring harness, replace with your new one and reinstall taking steps in reverse.

I'm replacing the key cylinder not the complete ignition switch.

as long as you have the key, you need to find a paper clip, bend it out, and stick it in the small hole on the bottom. When you get the paper clip in there, you have to work it around and push in, while at the same time turn the key. I forget which way but I think its torward accesories. It will eventually turn further then its supposed to and then slide out.

I bought my truck ('72 F-250) with no keys
I just bought a new ignition switch at napa, (in stock it cost me $17 after tax)
I still don't have keys, I use a screwdriver to start and stop it, and when I park the truck I just unplug the ignition switch and stick it in my pocket
