oil gauge
Anyone ever swap out the oil light for a factory oil gauge? If so what are the steps?

Re: oil gauge
this is easy. just replace the engine oil pressure switch with one made for gauges instead of the light. then add the gauge. but in order to add the gauge to the cluster i think you have to change the cluster housing and mask or the circut board and mask on some years of trucks. i can't remember for sure though. there are also aftermarket oil gauges you can ad that are different. they use the oil in a tube that goes to the aftermarket gauge. and that gauge can be moutned under the dash or where ever the tube will reach to.

Re: oil gauge
here is apicture. i shoul dhave looke dit up earlier. the housing and circut boards are different. so you would need the entire housing circut board and then the right wiring harness to make the cluster work or even plug in to the oil gauge housing. http://www.fordification.com/tech/image ... _71-72.jpg yours is a 70 right? i forgot.

Re: oil gauge
you will have to use a ftermarket gauge. unless you can find the wiring harness and cluster for a 70. they are a one year only cluster.

Re: oil gauge
i was laying in bed last night. and go tto thinking. all you would need is a cut off of the plug that matched the cluster you were going to use. and then run the extra wires to the oil and amp gauges.

Re: oil gauge
you will have to get the corrcct cluster. and the plug that mathces the cluster. thenmove all the correct wires from your plug to the new plug. and then use the extra holes in the plug to run new wires to the oil sending unit. and then you can also add and alternator gauge instead of the light.
