looking for new wiring

Post by theereverend »

Howdy. I just bought a 69 f100 to do, and it needs re-wired from front to back. It's a base model 300-6 3 speed manual...no A/C or power anything...just a main charging circuit, starter, factory lights, ignition, heater, wipers, radio and a cigarette lighter. Can anybody tell me if there's new restoration wiring made for this thing? All I'm finding is stuff for GM or universal kits with GM ends. This truck is all original, so I'm looking for factory style Ford ends....kind of like that black rubber protector on the connecting ends of the field, stator and battery wires for the alternator....know what I mean?

Does anybody know where I can get the type of female disconnects with the tang on the bottom that lock them into place inside the bulk connectors....like on the female end of the voltage regulator connection? If I can do that, I could rebuild all new dash and engine wiring from scratch using my old bulk connectors and new disconnects for each wire. I can't seem to find any aftermarket wiring made specifically for this truck, and I don't want non-factory hardware store connectors under my dash. Thanks.

Hey Thee Rev...

There's a place www.EZwiring.com that makes custom wiring harnesses. I have heard real good things about them. I bought a couple of wiring diagrams from them on CD and they have worked well.

Good Luck,

reverend,

I have looked all over for wiring harness for the bump side and they are all very pricey, if you can find one that is not just a univerasal fit..lowest price I have seen is in the 300 to 500 dollar range and up!!! ouch to much for me!!!
I keep thinking about getting a universal but i really like the idea of keeping to the stock ford wire colors...and all you can find is like you said for GM.
I have seen a few NOS on ebay, for our truck, but they are expensive too!!

good luck

most kits will come with a diagram showing how to run your wires. theres no real need to sticking to ford colors, unless you have electrical work done by a shop, so they can trace them.
