re: headlight problem
Since the cab light seems to work okay without any blinking or surging and you mentioned no other electric issues, check the grounds first at the headlight. Verify that you have a continuous circuit. Remove wires and clean the terminals. Make sure everything makes good contact.
Second, might look at the high/low switch. Check the connection (one connection) and condition of the switch itself.
Third, the headlight switch could have some issues.
Let us know what happens.

could be a loose wire under the dash.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

re: headlight problem
Its the light switch. They are made to do that instead of burning out totally on you while driving down the road at night. Replace it soon.

I would change the dimmer switch. I have had this problem before and that was the problem.

Are you hitting the dimmer switch when this happens ? I ask because last year, I had a simular problem and it turned out that it was my voltage regulator dying. My dimmer switch was fine. I figured it out after it drained my battery. ...

unpug the harness from the rear of the switch. On the top of the switch housing there is a button you push in and push in on the knob and then pull out and it should release the knob along with the rod attatched. Might have to give it a few jiggles. Then remove the mounting nut and it should be in your hands.
