Removing Power Steering Reservoir?
I need to remove the Power Steering Reservoir to refinish it. I have it off the truck and have removed the hoses and fitting nut from the back. It appears to be pressed onto the pump. Any tricks to getting it off without destroying it?
TIA

The pulley? Take it to an auto parts shop.

Nope, Resovoir.
Pulley is no problem, got a puller/installer for that.
To clarify: I want to separate the PS resovoir from the actual PS pump. I have the seal kit already. Just wondering if anyone has ever gotten one apart without destroying it.

Removed pully:
Removed brackets and nuts from pressure fitting on the back of the pump:
Adjusted vice to allow cast pump to fall between the jaws and catch the small flared lip on the reservoir.
Gave it a light (but sharp) rap on the fitting with plactic hammer:
Worked like a charm!

If you got the bolt and the line fitting off the back, it should come off but has an O ring so it might resist. Don't loose the pressure valve when you remove the fitting the pressure line goes into.
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.
