bucket seats
I was looking at the original 1968 brochure and the bucket seats look like the one's out of the Mustang. are they? My seat is sad, usable but on its last legs so thought I might go bucket. Especially if they are the Mustang seats as they and their covers and foam are readily available.

Re: bucket seats
Yes they are. You'll also need to get or make the brackets that raise the seat off the floor. Here's a link for the brackets if you decide to make them. http://www.fordification.com/tech/bucketseats.htm Please post pictures of your project, you can never tell what might help the next guy.

Re: bucket seats
took my seats to the local upholstery shop. they tell me they are from a 68 econoline van. they can not be reupholstered. because the foam on the springs is injected around the springs. live and learn still looking for some mustang seats. the local junkyard has 2 mustangs the seats are so far gone that they are seats in name only. the brackets from the van however are in good shape. i can fix them to work with some mustang seats.

Re: bucket seats
On the bucket seat brackets, why does the inner bracket have the 2 3/8" raised tab toward the back of it? Is it necessary? It would be a lot easier to bend up a set of these without it as I have a straight brake but not a finger brake.
I would like to make a set to bolt in my 1969 Cougar buckets to try them out. I'm not 100% convinced that is what I want and don't want to commit to buying any unless I could find a good deal.
Thanks
Chris

It's the stop for when the seat slides back on the track.FFRKing wrote:On the bucket seat brackets, why does the inner bracket have the 2 3/8" raised tab toward the back of it? Is it necessary? I'll be putting 1990 Mustang GT seats on my '68 Mustang seat sliders, that will bolt to the bucket seat brackets that will go in my '69 Ranger.
