69 F100 won't start!

Good morning,
I have a 69 F100 with a 390 4 speed 4x4. I just put new exgast gaskets and reran new gas lines to fix a vapor lock problem I have been getting which I still don't know if it's been fixed. The new problem is it won't turn over just clicks from silonoied. I replaced the silonoied & starter, battery was checked and it's good ran new battery cables, put a new ignition switch in. It still won't turn over! I ran a straight hot wire to starter and got nothing! HELP HELP HELP

Sounds like you have a problem with the starter I had this same problem with my truck turned out the starter was completely shot.

It is pretty common for new silonoieds to be faulty so you might want to try a differant silonoied.

If you're bypassing the solenoid and the motor's still not turning, it's seems that it's an issue with the starter (not to say solenoids don't go bad, but...).
Silly question, but you do have the motor well grounded, right?

Typically a clicking solenoid is caused because when the solenoid energizes the voltage from the battery drops low enough for it to deenergize. For troubleshooting jumping from the battery + to the S terminal on the solenoid bypasses all the control wiring in the truck. If it still clicks you have a problem between the battery terminals and the starter, either on the positive or negative side or the ground ckt for the solenoid itself. Turning the headlights on will show a dead / low battery quickly.

Is the ground on the block not quite tight? Are you missing a battery negative to body wire?

Any gray paste between the battery clamp and post is lead oxide, which is VERY poor at transferring power.

Also, I recently had a bad cable right out of the package (It had plastic between the wire end and the clamp it was "soldered" into!)
