So I just had to replace the shift collar on my truck. Its a c6 auto 71. When I got everything back together it all worked as it should...Turn signals anyway. We drove it to town this afternoon and they were working fine but on the way home I noticed they stopped. I got home and did some testing.
- With key in on position I have 10+ volts at the plug for the flasher relay.
- Testing continuity between ground and the other side on the flasher relay plug I get a good ground when the switch lever is pushed either way...and no continuity when in middle position.
- When testing continuity between posts on the flasher relay I had continuity...and as far as I know this is not how it should be.
These things led me to believe that things were ok and that I had a bad flasher relay. So I went and picked one up and plugged it in...no difference.
The only other issue I have is that even before tearing into the column when I would pull the switch for the emergency flashers they lights on the dash would flash rapidly but the lights on the exterior would not flash at all.
Ideas????

Re: Turn signals...
A standard flasher will have continuity be tween the posts. There is a bi-metallic strip that heats up when when current flows through it. The more the load the faster clicks on and off.
