Painless vs Ron Francis, Centech, EZWiring

Post by Ripsnorter »

I've decided to just put a new wiring harness in my '77. I've spent too many days chasing wiring gremlins, and still have problems.

I'm looking at Painless Wiring, Ron Francis, Centech and EZwiring. Any recommendations between them? I believe most of the harnesses are the same between Bumpsides and Dents.

Havn't started any of the installation of it,but I went with Ron Francis....money best spent :? I do like the fact that it came with a serial# or Ref# that is filed for not only me,but if I sell the truck....it carries on with new owner.....that could be alot of yrs from now. As long as you follow there install instructions...they can tech it over the phone...if theres any problems. I plan on adding P/W,sound system and a few other goodies to my truck....so if your lookin for a straight foward harness.....they offer a BareBonz kit, I went with the EZwire....for the Xtras
I've had enough and I'm not alone

Pretty sure I'm going with Ron Francis as well. I've been in touch with them and just need to finalize what I need.

Reviving an old thread.....so what harnesses are you using? I called Ron Francis and also spoke with Centech. I need one that supports EFI, A/C, cooling fan, and possibly P/W and P/L. The kit that Ron Francis has is interesting in that it has the plugs already in place and you run the wires back to the block. No extra length of wires to deal. Just cut them to length. Plus it has new Ford plugs. Anyways what have you used?

I'm using the EZ Wiring 21 circuit harness. http://www.ezwiring.com/store/viewitem.php?productid=4 Haven't installed it yet though. All wires are clearly labeled but it comes with GM and universal connectors. Since I'll be extensive aftermarket electrical, I figured I'd have to patch in a bunch anyway. For a 1/3 of the cost, to me it's worth it. Well made fuse box and appears to be quality wiring.

I went with the EZ Wiring 21 cirucit kit. The quality is nice and the wires are labeled. The manual leaves a bit to be desired, but if you can get a wiring schematic and volt meter it will come together. I did a Camaro last year with the American Autowire kit and it had everything and was really easy, but it cost 3 times as much.

I used a color schematic from http://www.classiccarwiring.com/1971-fo ... g-diagram/ and it really helped.

Just tested all the circuits this evening.
