Don't know how true it is but I seen a post somewhere on the innerweb concerning that certain light. They said that the light was used on more than one model of vehicle. I forget which ones it was used on but when installed on a f100 from factory it looks like it was installed upside down. On the other vehicle it was installed the opposite.

I've also wondered why it doesn't tilt downward a little. You would think that the light being emitted would be more useful if it were directed at the bed.

Carlos, either yours is or mine is.

Mine is flat side down. Same as the one on my '73. Same in this 1969 truck brochure:

http://www.fordification.com/library/ma ... ewsIndex=1

1972 brochure has it flat side down as well.

I'm voting for flat side down as being correct for '68, '69, '72 and '73 at the least.

Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in garages. (Apologies to Kenneth Grahame.)

Well that settles it then. I'll flip mine around asap.

Bill, do yours tilt downward at all?

Another quick question while we're on the subject of the cargo lamp. Is it supposed to turn on when I open the door? Also, is the iinterior dome light supposed to come on when I open the door.

Ok, my dome light does not come on when I open the door, but does when I turn (twist) the headlight switch. where should I start looking to get this working properly?

Actually, the dome light only comes on in trucks that have the switches in the door jam. Not all of our trucks came with the door switches. The dome light only comes on with the doors open on those trucks, all others, you have to turn the switch as you are doing.

My truck has the door buttons, my buddy's 67 does not. Just open your door and look about halfway down in the jam on the dash side of the door jam. There is a hole in the jam between the 2 hinge holes and to the right side of that hole is where the button switch would be. You may see a small screw hole to the top and bottom of the larger hole. That is where it screws in. If you have the buttons there, then they are not working. If you dont, well, then you know your light isnt supposed to come on when your door opens..

I don't have my switches put back in yet, but in this picture where I have my power window wires running through to my door, you can see the hole I am talking about and the small screw holes on the top and bottom of it on the right side. This is where the bracket screws in that holds the switch.

And these are what the switches look like: http://cgfordparts.com/wwwsectionfiles/ ... light.html

I'll have to look at it when I get home but I'm almost positive it has the buttons on the A pillars.

The cargo light on my 68 CS looks upside down, but the small lettering on the lens is right side up. So Being that the PO bought the truck new and his niece said he never messed with it in all the years he owned it. I believe my cargo light is on right.
