Hey man. What did you use to clean those emblems up before taping them off?

I used some watered down paint stripper to take off the rest of the paint that was in there and then cleaned the emblems really well with Xylol to get everything else off the surface. Once it was taped, I used self etching primer so it attached to the chrome and then painted over the primer to make sure the paint would not come off.

Well, my crew is STILL in paint. They redid the entire interior, but upon inspecting it again, they decided they were not happy with the stock bed seam that they had painted over and decided to remove all of the stock sealer and are applying new sealer in a professional looking manner and then will be repainting the bed sides. So probably another week or 2 (so they say). Cant really complain when they decide to try and make it perfect and do it for free..

Anyway, in the meantime, CNM67 and I finally decided to dump the stock exhaust on his truck and install his Hooker headers. We knocked that out last weekend and will be getting the rest of the exhaust buttoned up in the next couple of weeks when he has a little more money. He already bought the Magnaflow glass packs, but needs a little more for the rest of the 3" system.

We had to lift the motor a few inches to clear the power steering on the drivers side and it sure is close to the stock starter on the passenger side, but it is all installed and looks good.

Image
Image

We started it up and drove the old neighbors across the street more insane than they already are (They are in bed with the HOA, so I love it!!). The fricken thing sounds like a NASCAR right now. Caleb took a short cell phone video which does no justice, but it sounds way better than the mickey mouse stock exhaust we hooked up with the exhaust leak when we did the body swap. :D Click the "photo" below to see/hear the video.

Image

We weren't as careful as we would have been when putting the headers in and managed to scratch up his Ford Racing valve covers in the process. The reason we were not being careful was because for his birthday, I scored him these:

Image

He hasn't put them on yet because he wants to clean them up a little more and then rock a restored stock air cleaner assembly with them. Either way, they are going to look sick on his motor. Now, we still need to get his truck all one color...

Today I finally got the call I have been anxiously waiting on... The Crew is done! :woohoo:
I drove over there to inspect it and it is beautiful. :hd: Made arrangements for the tow and it arrived in my driveway this afternoon and now is resting next to the Fairlane. I can finally start updating this thread regularly as I find the time to put it all back together. Hope to have it on the road this summer if all goes well.

In the meantime, here are some pictures since everyone loves them more than words...

Here it is at the shop in direct light, waiting to get on the back of the tow truck

Here it is in the driveway in a little bit of shade. Got to love Ford's Dark Highland Green!
Image
Image

And just for good measure, here it sits next to the Dark Moss Green 67 Fairlane. I did not plan on having two old Fords with both of them being dark green.
Image

And now that the truck can be rebuilt, I can get the garage emptied of all the truck parts. Once that is done, the Fairlane can be parked inside as it should be. In the meantime, the car covers on both of them will have to do.

Yeah, I saw how the picture looks too, but it's an illusion based on the angle the photo was taken and the fact that the fairlane was closer. The Fairlane is quite a bit shorter than the beast. The truck is absolutely huge! Finding a parking spot for this thing when I go places is going to be a chore. :D Thanks for the compliments guys. I'm excited to get on with this project.

She looks great and I love the color! I know how you feel getting your truck back from a paint shop after it has been gone so long. It's an exciting time, like a kid that just got a new toy from the toy store!

Not too much to update yet as I have spent the small amount of extra time this last week going through the piles of parts in the garage to help remind me where everything is. Been prepping and painting a few small parts that have needed it as I get ready to start reassembly.

Yesterday, I actually had a few extra hours of daylight in a row so I was able to actually take the cover off the truck and start doing something. I cleaned and prepped the floorboards and then got the box of Zillamat down from the garage attic where it has been waiting for the past 2 years. I got about 80% done with the floorboards before the plastic roller broke. Going to go out today and find a couple more small rollers so I can finish the job tomorrow hopefully. The Zillamat goes down pretty easy and doing the "tap test" on the covered floor as opposed to the uncovered floor, it makes a world of difference. It should quiet the echo chamber of a cab significantly. It also covers quite a bit. I bought 2 large rolls and I am not even halfway through the first roll yet. Should have plenty left over for the roof above the headliner and behind the door panels.

And thinking of putting it all the way up the firewall, but worried that I might have fitiment issues with the heater box, firewall cover, etc... Anyone have any experience with sound deadened on the firewall? It's not that thick so I am probably worried about nothing, but once this stuff is on, it isn't coming off so I want to be sure...

Here are a couple before and after pictures:
