HEATER - A little help please

Post by Brew Dog »

Hi,

I have a 1971 F100 that came with the suitcase styled AC/Heater unit which has been removed. I acquired a heater only from a 1968 f100. How or what do I need to use to connect the rubber boot over to the fresh air cutout. I will be rebuilding this unit but just wanted a dry fit first. Any info and where to buy what is needed would be greatly appreciated

THANKS!!
Ron

I'm on my phone so I can't post you a link. Go to the LMC Truck online catalog and search your model for heater. They have a complete exploded view and, I think, all the parts are available through them.

Thanks.
It looks like LMC has the rubber duct which I have to replace anyways but nothing to connect it to the fresh air at the cab wall. looking at my 71 manual I think I need OEM p/n 18B259 (duct assembly) to bridge the gap between the duct and the cab wall. I'm not sure.

THANKS AGAIN!!

Thanks for the info. On that link the part that is to the right of the rubber boot and goes into the cab wall, what is that called? That's my missing piece. Any idea of where to find one?

Thanks

It's called the heater inlet duct. Post this pic from Robroy's write up in the Parts Wanted section and you'll probably get a bite from a member. I don't know if any of the parts distributors sells 'em.

Btw, do you have the similar piece that connects to the a/c unit? I need that one.

Nope. That's what I have too. There should be something similar to the heater inlet duct to cover the hole in the kick panel for units with factory a/c. At least I would think there should.

I'm pretty sure I have the plastic and rubber piece for the heater assembly. I'll be at my garage this weekend and check. Will let you know
