1971 F100 Sport Custom Door Seals/weather Strip

Post by 71_Sport_Custom »

Searched for a bit for a thread on this but can't seem to find one.

I have totally tore down my can and interior and ordered new door seals. Does anyone have experience with what to use to adhere the seals to the cab? I see a lot of things on the internet of use this, but most are product promos so i'm wondering if anyone has any real experience themselves with a product/method that worked great, or even what to avoid if you had something not work. Any help is appreciated!

-Cheers

I use Dynatex Weatherstripping adhesive, but 3M also makes a product as do others. I would assume they are all pretty much the same.

I put the adhesive on in about 12 inch sections and then hold the weatherstripping in place until in sticks, and then do the next 12 inches, etc.. A door usually takes about 10-15 mins. Once you have it all on, just close the door and let it cure completely. But it is tacky out of the tube and then holds within a couple of minutes.

Here is what I used: https://www.google.com/search?q=dynatex ... e&tbm=shop

And after you install new seals, do not be alarmed if your door seems harder to close. It takes a while for the new rubber to 'settle in', and it will take more force to close the door completely. It's normal.

my can. whoops. =) awesome. Thanks guys for the help. I was gonna go with a 3M product. My dad is in the aircraft industry and has plenty of commercial grade 3M adhesive around. Thanks for the application tips.
