Steering Column / Neutral Safety Switch

Post by marvin2 »

Wasn't sure if this should be posted in Interiors or Electrical....

I want to do an aftermarket column, chrome, tilt, etc. The automatic column shift columns with neutral safety switches are easily $700 - $800; which is a good bit more than I want to spend, especially since that doesn't even include the steering wheel.

Summit has an auto column shift column for $300, but it does not include the neutral safety switch. Does anyone have suggestions on a differetn / custom NSS application I could pair with this column? I do not want to just bypass the NSS altogether, I want to maintain it's purpose.

Here is the column I was looking at:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-7 ... plications

P.S. I'm in the middle of the crown vic IFS swap, so I don't need a column with a rag joint setup

Thanks,

If you've got a C6 you can mount the passenger car version of the NSS directly to the transmission. It looks like the this.

I'll be running a C4; but I wonder if the same setup would work?

Yep, same setup. C4 on Mustang's use them so they are easy to get.

That's awesome news! I did a quick google search and foun the parts are fairly cheap / accessible and there is plenty of information on their configuration.

Looks like I will definitely be going with the less expensive column!

Thanks guys!
