Coil/Distributor Question

Post by Corkwheats »

Hi Guys,

I'm installing an "old school" Mallory Dual Point Distributor (2755301) and a Mallory Voltmaster Mark II Coil in my F.E. in my 71 Truck. Do I also need to get some kind of in-line resistor to the coil? I spoke with the mechanic in town, and he said he thought I'd need one. Anyone ever heard of this?

Thanks,
Bob

your truck already has a resistor wire from the ignition switch to the dist. if you need a resistor then the original wire will work fine. if not then you can bypass or cut and remo9ve the resistor part of the wire to get a full 12 volts. i would contact mallory to see what they say before i went cutting any wires on your truck though.
