I recently bought a 1970 F250 Camper Special, When I got it home the brakes were bad and one headlight was burned out, figured those would be my first two projects. I redid all the brakes including lines and MC and replaced the headlights with halogen conversion kits with 55W H4 bulbs. When I finished up the brakes I took her out for a test drive and my headlights started cutting in and out about 15 minutes into the ride??? Sometimes they would only stay out for only about a split second and come back on, other times they would stay out for a second or two before coming back on. I don't know if this was an issue before I put the new lights in or not, has anyone else experienced this problem? I was hoping someone may know exactly what might be causing this and save me some time trying to troubleshoot it???
All replies much appreciated,
Matt

Re: Headlights cutting in and out
Matt,
It's a common issue with our trucks to not be able to handle the amperage of the newer halogen bulbs so it causes the circuit to kick in and out on the built in overload in the headlight switch. The answer to the issue is to add a relay into the lighting circuit to handle the extra amperage pull of the newer bulbs. Please also realize you can build this kit like I did myself top save money. You can do this by going to my trucks build thread at the bottom of my signature or a few other threads here on the subject:
