1972 F250 heater core with a/c....cannot find one anywhere!!

Post by kimmy95620 »

Hello all! I have a 1970 F100 that we added 1972 F250 factory a/c to and I need a heater core but cannot find one anywhere! I can find the non a/c ones all day long...any suggestions. I tried Green Sales, LM Truck etc...no one has the a/c one available. I have tried aftermarket avenues...no luck there either. Local rad shops...no go either! I found one place that may be able to re-core but they need to see it first and say $150 and up....way too much I think. Thanks in advance all. :help:

I was told that the core of the AC heater cores are the same as the non-AC heater cores. You should be able to buy a new non-AC heater core and have the ends of your old core put on the new one at a radiator shop. I was going to do this when I rebuilt my AC unit but the radiator shop decided to clean out my old one before the non-AC heater core arrived.

Prior to having my old core fixed, I had ordered an AC heater core from NPD and it turned out to be around 4" too long. I don't know what they sent me but it was not a factory AC heater core.

Did the donor A/C still have the original heater core? If so, get that one cleaned up or repaired.

I've been looking for a new heater core myself, and haven't been able to find one.

If you can't find a new one and don't have one already, you're going to have to hunt the junk yards for a used one.
