Re: Voltage Regulator Question
Dave,
Here the yellow wire comes off of the battery/hot side of the solenoid to power the horn relay. Not real sure about it coming off of the voltage regulator-maybe certain years it got power from there instead?

Re: Voltage Regulator Question
Got me curious, had to take a peak under the hood of the old girl. It's wired like in the diagram above but what that doesn't show is that it runs in the wire loom going to the voltage regulator, being they are right next to each other. A lot of similar colored wires there and if double backed, would give the appearance of coming from the voltage regulator.

Is there anyway to bench test a voltage regulator?

Re: Voltage Regulator Question
I've had the regulators tested at my local parts store before, like autozone or whatever. if they can test an alt, they can test a reg also. As far as self testing, I have no idea..you might find something on google, but then again you might cook it in the process.

Re: Voltage Regulator Question
Very true. I have some real quacks working at some parts stores here in town. Especially the one female at Pepboys that told me that gear reduction starters aren't made for vehicles with overdrive.SmoothJ69 wrote:Of course depending on your local parts store they might fry it also.
