OK, a month later and I still haven't gotten those turn signals to flash. Replaced the flasher can. No change. They come on but don't blink. Both parking lights and taillights come on but don't flash. Doesn't the no flashing issue usually mean that a bulb is out somewhere, or is that just for newer vehicles?

That used to be the case for our early Fords as I remember. I'd check the front and rear bulbs first and then run a continuity check for the grounds for all four sockets as well. Make sure your ground is also making to the sockets, (check the ground at the radiator support/engine ground/intake to firewall ground). This would be a good start before jumping into the harness and switch side of it.

All the lights seem to be working. Hopefully it's not the turn signal switch. I just replaced that last year.

One of my license plate lamps is out. Would that have an effect on my turn signals?

You may be fighting a grounding or contact issue. Its not uncommon in older vehicles for either problem. The contacts in the light sockets themselves can do something like a spring sticking in one that old. The best way to figure that one out is to remove a bulb and toy with the contacts with a non electrical conductor. A multimeter is going to be very helpful here. If you can run a test circuit from the positive side of the circuit to ground............. you have a complete circuit test wise.

So, from what I gather, the backup lights, turn signals and windshield washer are all on the same fuse. So, if the windshield washer works, it's not the fuse. Correct?

Doggone it. I took out the instrument panel to change out the flasher can and when I put it all back, now the speedometer no longer works.

I took it out again, disconnected the cable and then hooked it all back up. Nothing. Man, if it's not one thing it's another. :hmm:
