whil I am driving my bump all the accessories shut off like the guagesd and the radio. Sometimes they stop working and then start working again. What exactly could this be?

Sounds like it may be a bad or lose body ground. Hard to say on a truck that old. At this point in it's life I would highly recommend rewiring the entire truck. There really isn't that much to it.

Ignition switch, these are all controlled by it.

Re: electrical shutting off
Good troubleshooting method. Moving the wires around while the engine is running-maybe have someone else watching the gauges. I'd also check out by the solenoid and alternator.Id just reach down and jiggle the key a bit side to side in and out and everytime they would come back on.

Its how I found out my ignition switch was severly worn. I obviously didnt turn the key far enough to turn all the power off just a gentle wiggle and id listen for the radio to come back on. Not very dangerous and worth a try next time it happens. A heavy set of keys can wear out a switch.

Re: electrical shutting off
Thanks for the help guys. I tried it and the accesories did start working again! So I guess it is time for a new ignition switch. I have another electrical question now. My driver rear turn signal is not working. I replaced the bulb and I am still getting nothing. I took a look and I think I found the suspect wire. Any idea where I can get a wiring diagram?

Re: electrical shutting off
If your driver side "Brake light" is working and your "Turn Signal" is not then the problem is your Turn Signal Switch. If both don't work, then yes, start with checking wires and connections for the Yellow wire...

Re: electrical shutting off
But the front drivers turn signal will light it wont blink from the extra voltage. But that should eliminate the switch.Thunderfoot wrote:If your driver side "Brake light" is working and your "Turn Signal" is not then the problem is your Turn Signal Switch. Nope, it doesn't eliminate the switch.67 ford f100s rule wrote:But the front drivers turn signal will light it wont blink from the extra voltage. The front and rear lights are two separate circuits. (Actually, four separate circuits)
