Replaced Turn signal switch now it wont start

Post by Slimguy »

Hi all
I replaced the turn signal switch and now it wont start. '70 F250 camper special, 390, it has been running and starting up regurlarly until today when I did this, it was a pain and frustrating too. Anyway, got it back together and nothing happens when I turn the key, I have lights, and turn signals :D it just wont turn over, not even a click. Any help is appreciated as the truck is now in the driveway and I hope I can get out in the morning.
Thanks
Steve

More than likely just need to adjust your neutral safety switch. Located on the top of the column tube, down near the brake pedal. Loosen the two screws and slide it a little each way while holding the key to the "start" position, then when it starts, lock the screws down.

I will bet money that you broke the tab for the neutral safety switch... I broke mine when I did my turn signal too... Ill edit this post with a link to the thread that covers it in a sec:

Read this thread, it has pictures too... More than likely what happened:

Thanks Bobby, I did what you said and it worked. It's a little "twitchy" just like it was before. Now its out of the driveway and the wifes car can get in there.

Glad to hear it was just an adjustment and not a broken "tang". The broken tang is a pain in the @ss.. :)
