3g alternator
im curious as to why the 3g alternator requires such a heavy charge cable. Why is the cable that came on it not sufficient? A 2 gauge cable is awfully big. Even a 6 gauge is awfully large. Also , if i have a gauge instead of warning lamp is it necessary to wire in a resistor between alt and hot swich. Yes ive already seen other post but not clear on resistor with an amp gauge.

Re: 3g alternator
The resistorl causes addition current to flow. The light is insufficient to draw current.
The larger the cable the more capacity and the less loss. Drawing 120 amps is a large load generally from sound system or hydraulics. I would think a 6 gauge wire should be sufficient, but it depends upong the load and length of cable. The alternator will only supply what is needed.

Re: 3g alternator
ive also noted a ground wire in the diagrams. do i need to add this or is it alread grounded at the mount?
