Random Wires?

What year? You can find the wiring diagrams on here, I know these guys have helped me out alot! Good luck.

normally the wires that are in that place going down the inner fender are two purple ones. those go tothe brake switch on the pressure differential switch.
the other four wires would be for the brakes tails turn signals and reverse lights. the wire colors would be green yellow brown and wite.

the grey black plug with the blue and tellow wires going to it is unknown. and has to have been added later. the red wire below that plug is also a dded wire. the orange wire would be for a aux gas tank sending unit.

also coming out of the firewall will be your headlight wiring and the washer tank motor wiring. but those should run up on the inner fender not down into that mess. of course soemone may have added a traielr brake into that wiring too. you never know until you trace the wires.

When I was looking thru the different schematics I noticed some of them has different models like 88 or 99 how can I tell the difference between them?

on each vin decoding page it tells of models 81 83 85 and what trucks they are. the other models of trucks like 99 is a flatbed probably. or something like that. anyway you can use the diagrams mostly by looking at what wiring it has and doesnt have. unless you have a camperspecial. most of the wiring in that location is goign to be generic to all trucks. the only difference would be transmission auto vs manual. as manual will have backup light wiring. auto wont.
