Turn signals

Post by Fo-Mo-Co »

Anyone know why my right side turn signal won't flash when I hit the brakes?

Does your right brake light work when you step on your brake peddle?

I'm assuming you've checked that it's NOT a burnt out light bulb.

then somehow the brake light power is not being interrupted correctly. from the turn signal switch. it should flash if the brakes are pushed.

Sounds like the Turn Signal Switch... The Cam on the Switch is what disengages the Brake signal from the side you are turning, so that the signal flashes when you hit the brakes. You will need to take the steering wheel off and look at the Turn Signal Cam, I bet the plastic that holds the wire for the contacts is broke and the wire wont switch off the contact for the brake signal.

I'm having problems with both of my turnsignals. I already replaced the flasher and they worked fine for about a day. Luckily I found a turn signal switch at the junkyard just haven't gotten around to replacing the old one. I'm also going to check the wiring to make sure I don't have a short somewhere.

They don't work at all. I have that turn signal switch but I've also been thinking about replacing the steering column for a tilt column.

you might check the fuse before you replace the switch.

Ok, I'll check the fuse after I put the truck back together. Thank you.
